2,300.00

Bruno Gecchelin for Gruppo Skipper, eighties floorlamp in black enamel with mat black rubber details.
Embossed to rubber underside of lamp:
“Pollux Gruppo Skipper Originale”
Refined variation of earlier classic Gecchelin design, the“Mezzaluna,” later “Haluna” floor lamps, also for Skipper.  Also hearkens back to Gecchelins intersecting black forms at play in the Bis Floor lamp for Arteluce.
With this lamp, we can see the influence, if not the actual input, of peer designer at Grupo Skipper, Angelo Mangiarotti; note intersecting forms not unlike those executed in marble for Skipper; also note lamp base in the form of the circle broken by triangular section cutaway appearing in unique sculptures by Mangiarotti calling to mind the voracious “Pack-Man,” video-game-form from the same era.
See Matter and Sense catalog of Mangiarotti art and design published by the Casati Gallery.
Enameled steel with cast rubber sections.  Top rotates for more directional bounced light off adjacent wall, in addition to bounced light off ceiling. Dimmer provides soft diffuse light at low levels, or, at maximum power, bright diffuse light throughout an evenly lit room.
Extreme height provides visual drama as well as maximum efficiency with halogen bulb closer to reflected light surface of ceiling and/or wall.
Made in Italy,” 75”ht 13”diam; detailed dimensions: 13”diam base; triangular lamp 10.5”dp 14.5”w, hangs 12.5” off of center ht with pie tilted in use 80”ht
