Nessen Studio Vintage Floorlamp

2,800.00

Nessen Studio vintage chrome torchere floorlamp, circa mid fifties.
64.5”ht 11”diam; 9.25”diam shade 11”diam base
Notes:
Vintage Nessen Studios chrome Torchere floor lamp.
Company founded by Walter Von Nessen (1889-1943, Germany).
Retains Nessen label on steel base near company name relief in cast steel base.
A superlative example of mid-century minimalism, this uncompromising Nessen design relies upon one material for entire lamp-that of chromed steel thereby highlighting the single radical fracture at the center of it's bifurcated shade.
The bold break at the center of this lamp's steel shade deconstructs the torchere lamp therby spilling light upon it’s own brilliance.
Lamp, otherwise, sticks to it’s job of delivering bright soft diffuse light in the most efficient manner possible by age old strategy of simply bounding light off  the ceiling.
Decisive, uncomplicated lamp would find itself among kindred spirits in the Phillip Johnson glass house or like-minded interior.
Philippe Starck learned a lot from Nessen studios and this lamp makes clear the wisdom of his focus.
